Synopsis
In this feature-length documentary, six teenage girls between the ages of 14 and 16 agree to open up and have their intimate world invaded by the camera. They have to deal with situations that they intend to proudly assume: early experience of sexuality, belonging to a gang, stormy relations with parents. The testimonies, delivered with tenderness, also deal with social tolerance and friendship.
A word from Tënk
In the midst of the effervescence of the early 1970s, as a more radical feminism emerged in a Quebec that still left little space for women in film, director and producer Anne Claire Poirier collaborated with her fellow women filmmakers on a reflection on women’s identities, creating En tant que femmes, a six-film series made by and with women, including this documentary from Hélène Girard.
