A word from Tënk
In 1950s America, Connie Converse was a genius singer-songwriter, the polar opposite of pop musicians of the time. She describes her solitude, her fears and her anguish on guitar tracks that no one wanted to listen to. Despite her prolific output and a desire for recognition, major musicians’ lack of interest led her to disappear one summer’s day in 1974. She left behind her cassettes, letters and photos, all meticulously filed and waiting to be discovered when the world was ready for her. Natacha Giler, obsessed by this mysterious and sincere woman, sets off on a journey across America to capture fragments of this misunderstood artist and solve the mystery of why she never had the success she deserved and, above all, why she disappeared.
