In Rita Baghdadi’s dazzling documentary, we are invited to spend ample time getting to know the members of Lebanese metal band Slave to Sirens. as we closely follow their daily lives as they rehearse, go out, tour, make music together etc. 

Choosing a truly immersive and intimate approach to filming her subjects, Rita facilitates the audience’s understanding of the band members, their growth, personal experiences and various highs and lows, which in turn mirror their own country’s cataclysmic changes, caught in the middle of tumultuous political and economic unrest.

Sirens is a striking, complex and impactful depiction of young womanhood and resistance in the SWANA region.
