A film in which words sometimes seem like accessories, sometimes voluntarily absent, hushed by a wall that separates the camera from its characters, crushed by the ambient sounds of the city, those of the night, the rain, the buses and cars, by those in society who continue without respite, passing silently through pains and sorrows that manifest themselves in us and affect our family ties. The sounds that accompany this young man in pain add lines to the symphony of daily life. A solitude that, in chorus with the bustling city, feels stronger still.
 
We are transported into a universe that demonstrates and peels back the layers of, and indeed gives voice to intimacy, but that, in the same breath, silences, voluntarily, reminding us that words, truth, the affirmation of identity sometimes cause fissures that we work hard to seal up.
 
Alongside all these sounds are bright lights–red, purple, blue to the eye–and in this incandescent gloom, we see tears and smiles from this young man who so desires the respect of those around him in the affirmation of his identity. But even more than solitude, it’s familial love that emerges, the importance of connection to one’s own culture, mother, and mother tongue, that seem stronger than all the values that hinder it.
