It starts by articulating, assuming, asserting and adoring a word: "lesbian". Meeting twelve women, the directors compose a manifold portrait of lesbianism. Interviews facing the camera alternate with footage from the interviewees’ and others’ youth, taken during LGBT demonstrations. Following a thematic thread, the film addresses the issues of relations with their family, feminism, sexual practices (S & M), fidelity and "outing", the act of revealing a person's sexuality. While the accounts – interspersed with the reading of a poem by Quebec writer Nicole Brossard and accompanied by a musical composition by Lee Pui Ming (both interviewees) – highlight the plurality of the experiences, positions and analyses, all of them claim the same sense of liberation they feel living outside heterosexual norms.
