Synopsis
After working on major cleaning projects in New York, immigrants share their experiences. Their voices traverse dreamscapes, reflecting on the American dream, the reality of being undocumented individuals, the dangers of this labor, and the dust that still lingers in their lungs decades later.

Dust Away features several members of the Nuestros Heroes Project, a support group for Latin Americans who participated in the cleanup of Ground Zero and later developed illnesses, including those related to asbestos exposure in the debris. Their personal testimonies come together as a collective voice, expressing their experiences of work, medical conditions, uprooting, and disillusions" The filmmakers illustrate their words with a captivating blend of stop-motion animation and 16mm film. Revealing these overlooked repercussions of the September 11 attacks in 2001, this inspired short film highlights essential work that is often undervalued or rendered invisible.
