Synopsis
Elitza Gueorguieva films the making of the novel that her Belarusian alter-ego Aliona initiates about her father, a maritime adventurer, physicist and dreamer, who disappeared off a Turkish coast in 1995. By accompanying this process of mourning and emancipation through writing, the Bulgarian filmmaker invents her own visual language that amplifies the tension between dream and reality, poetry and memory.

How to write when memories are missing, when the object of writing is precisely the disappearance? The director's words mingle with Aliona's precise and bewitching voice to transcribe this wandering. Finding the place from which to write her story. This place is a language that they build in a language other than their own, a space where boat trips, a jacket full of pockets and the borscht on top of the fridge can cohabit.
This feeling of uprootedness that allows for writing reaches us through various registers of words and images that make a sensitive and political, melancholic and joyful film.
