Synopsis
This summer, Kabylie, a region in Algeria, has burned. At the center of this tragedy, women are singing. Their song, Achewiq, sublimates the suffering. With simplicity, the daily life of the Sahel’s inhabitants is revealed. Through laughs and joy, they overcome all these sorrows. The earth’s ashes are becoming the new sprouts to bloom.
A word from Tënk
To replant oneself means building a fire behind the fire. It means becoming igneous oneself, and despite everything, digging up the dry earth and breathing a little life into it. “To speak is first to open one's mouth and attack the world with it, to know how to bite,” wrote Valère Novarina in her book Devant la parole. Let us sing, pray, laugh and subvert… There's plenty to learn from these few women with burnt tears.
