Born to a French mother in New York before moving to Chicago, Vivian Maier took more than 100,000 photos throughout her life, but kept them hidden. A word from Tënk
It wasn’t by chance that “Finding Vivian Maier” was nominated for an Oscar in 2015… with its investigation, plot twists and revelations, Maloof’s film uses the full arsenal to draw in and seduce the audience.
Nevertheless, Vivian Maier was spared the tsunami of Hollywood fame. She was never one for the limelight, and throughout the film, her character remains a mystery. All that remain are her thousands of street photos, an amazing account of American society from the 1960s onwards, and proof that a true artist was behind the camera.
